Seeing Machines
The right view
As Design Lead for the Seeing Machines Guardian Live platform project, I led a cross-functional team to reimagine a critical safety monitoring system that now tracks over 8 billion kilometers of driving data and has prevented numerous accidents through early fatigue detection.
The Challenge
Seeing Machines faced a complex data visualization challenge: how to effectively monitor and present real-time safety data from over 8,000 trucks operating across
43 countries. The existing system struggled to:
Process and visualize massive amounts of real-time video and telemetric data
Present critical safety information in an instantly digestible format
Support multi-step workflows for fleet managers and safety officers
Scale across a growing international user base
Impact
Under my leadership, the team delivered:
A scalable platform now monitoring:
8+ billion kilometers of driving data
11+ million distraction events detected
230,000 fatigue interventions in the past year
Improved Development Efficiency:
Reduced feature development time through reusable components
Streamlined design-to-development workflow
Established consistent coding and design standards
Enhanced User Experience:
Intuitive interface for complex data visualisation
Streamlined incident response workflows
Improved access management system
The success of the Guardian Live platform demonstrates how thoughtful product experience design can literally save lives while improving business efficiency. By focusing on user needs and maintaining a clear vision of our safety-first mission, we created a system that's not just functional, but transformative for the transportation industry.
Our work with Seeing Machines proves that when it comes to safety systems, good design isn't just about aesthetics – it's about creating interfaces that help humans make better decisions faster. The platform continues to evolve, but its foundation in user-centered design ensures it will keep saving lives for years to come.
